What Music and Video Formats are supported on Windows Phone 8?

You just bought a new Nokia Lumia (920, 925, 928, 1020, 520, 521, 620, 720, 820, 822) or any other Windows Phone 8 based smartphone from HTC or Samsung and you don't know what music and video files you can play on the phone. Here is the list of supported media (music + video) formats that are available for Windows Phone 8.

Your windows phone supports a number of popular audio and video file formats, such as MP3, MPEG-4, Windows Media Audio (WMA), and Windows Media Video (WMV). While transferring any unsupported media from your PC to your phone, it tries to convert the media to a compatible format.
